Following Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia’s death last February, President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to fill the vacancy.  Since his nomination last March, the Republican controlled Senate led by Mitch McConnell refused to grant Mr. Garland a hearing.

Merrick Garland’s nomination expired on January 3rd, 2017.

Now comes word that Mitch McConnell’s Senate will grant expedited hearings to the President-elect’s cabinet nominees, in spite of the fact that they have not been fully vetted for conflicts of interest, nor potential national security risks.

This is not normal.

It’s the 9th of January, 2017.  Happy Monday.
