Seemingly lost in the madness of the last two weeks was the news that the President has elected to retain James Comey as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Mr. Comey, you’ll remember, is the man who displayed spectacularly poor (and possibly illegal) judgment in the days leading up to the election last November; legal experts believe he violated the Hatch Act.
This news comes as no surprise given that it is widely believed that Mr. Comey’s behavior helped the President win in November. Indeed, it appears as though the President recognized that gratitude was in order when he blew Mr. Comey a kiss at a White House meeting last week.
This is not normal. Not even close.
It’s Thursday the 2nd of February, 2017.
