It’s time to call a spade a spade: The President of the United States is a liar.

Donald Trump has asserted for weeks that members of his administration were not under investigation for colluding with Russian agents during the 2016 election to give him an unfair advantage over his opponent, Hillary Clinton.

The president has also claimed, without wavering, that President Obama ordered an illegal wiretap of his New York offices during the campaign.

Both of these statements have now been proven false.

Recognize this: The President of the United States would have had access to information from the Justice Department that would have demonstrated to him, weeks ago, that both of these assertions were false.

That he—and his morally bankrupt gaggle of loyal staffers—continued (and continue) to promote their unsupported position on these matters is precisely the kind of behavior that that turns falsehoods into lies.

This is not normal.

It is high time for both parties in Congress to put aside partisan differences, and act according to the best interests of the republic. It is time to appoint a special prosecutor, and to undertake a bipartisan Congressional investigation of the sitting president.

Donald Trump’s lies present the opportunity this country has been waiting for to begin the important process of bridging the partisan divide.

Today is Wednesday, the 22nd of March, 2017.  It is a day for action, not resistance.
