Theresa May threatened that a failure by the European Union to reach a Brexit agreement that was favorable to England would prompt the British Government to withhold cooperation when it comes to addressing threats—from terrorism and organized crime, for example—to international security.

This is not normal, and it is outrageous.

International cooperation on security threats goes beyond the British Isles and the European Union; in today’s turbulent political environment, cooperation on security benefits all nations of the world.

Theresa May’s position is tantamount to using the lives of innocent people as a bargaining chip in a process that was poorly conceived from the start.  It is morally reprehensible and warrants a swift rebuke.
