Let’s pause for a moment, and get real.
Yes, Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons attack on his own citizens was ghastly and reprehensible. And, yes, it warranted a swift response from the United States.
However, please spare me the “changed presidency” argument.
You can’t wash away 81 days of presidential incompetence—not to mention years of sexual harassment, hate-speach, and erratic behavior before and during the campaign—by blowing up an airfield in western Syria.
Trump’s domestic and foreign policy is still a mess, and too many people living in this country—and abroad—are at greater risk today than they were on January 19th.
