Donald Trump has nominated Kathleen Hartnett-White, the former chairwoman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, to chair of the EPA’s Council on Environmental Quality.

Ms. Harnett-White does not believe in human causes of climate change.

She has described efforts to address the risks from climate change as little more than an attack on the fossil fuel industry.

And, she has criticized the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.  Of the IPCC’s scientific assessments, Ms. Harnett-White said, they are “not validated and politically corrupt.”

As for Ms. Harnett-White’s scientific credentials—those upon which she relies to substantiate these claims—she has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in East Asian studies and comparative literature from Stanford University.  She did doctoral work at Princeton University in Comparative Religion. And studied law at Texas Tech University.

Yup. Scientific facts don’t stand a chance against this one.

It’s Wednesday, the 25th of October, 2017.
